Five people, including two from the same family, died early this morning (21) when a tractor carrying a group travelling on the Kebilitta pilgrimage collided with a tipper truck on the Kumbukkana Bridge in Monaragala.
Police stated that three others suffered severe injuries.
Three tractors had been travelling together, and the group in the tractor travelling in the middle met with the collision.
Police stated that 10 people were travelling in it at the time.
Those who died and were injured in the collision are between 21 and 50 years of age.
They are residents of the Buttala, Dodamgaslanda, and Horabokka areas.
