Final rites of veteran singer Dr. Nanda Malani who enriched Sri Lanka's cultural landscape with her iconic voice and artistry will be performed today (22) at the Borella General Cemetery in accordance with her final wishes.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake visited her residence last night to pay his respects.
A large number of artists, political figures, and fans have also gathered to pay their final tributes.
Among those paying homage yesterday were former President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, alongside several other Parliamentarians and dignitaries.
Further, Chairman of Hiru Media Network Rayynor Silva also paid his final respects to the late veteran singer.
Following her passing, the Ministry of Public Administration announced that the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all state institutions during a three-day national mourning period, which remains in effect through tomorrow (23).
