Professor N.D. Fernando assumed duties as the new vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya following an appointment by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The official appointment letter was handed over at the Presidential Secretariat by Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. Prior to this new academic leadership role, Fernando chaired People’s Bank and served as a professor within the Department of Finance at the same university, with the official transition taking effect on August 24.
