The owner of the company that organised the fireworks display at an event held in the Pandatharippu area of Jaffna has been remanded.
The suspect was produced before the Mallakam Magistrate, who ordered that he be remanded until September 4. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, several people were hospitalised after suffering eye injuries during the fireworks display.
Jaffna Teaching Hospital Director Dr. Thangamuthu Sathyamurthi said 21 of them remain admitted to the hospital.
