The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers will occur from time to time in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The statement says that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.
The statement also says that mainly dry weather will prevail in other areas of the island.
Fairly strong winds of about 30 to 40 kmph may occur from time to time on the western slopes of the central hills and in North-central and North-western provinces and in Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The department requests the public to take necessary steps to minimize damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
