Man dies after being struck by falling coconut tree

Padaviya Police say a person who went to cut down a coconut tree in the Arunagama area of the Padaviya police division died after being hit by the tree on August 23.

The person who died in this manner is a 52-year-old resident of the Arunagama area, Padaviya.

Police say investigations conducted so far reveal that this incident occurred when the deceased went to cut down the coconut tree, which got entangled in another tree, and attempted to cut down that tree as well.

Padaviya Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
