Rain expected in several areas today

The Department of Meteorology forecasts that showers may occur from time to time today (25) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts,

Fairly heavy rain above 75 mm can also occur in some places.

A few showers may occur in the Anuradhapura, Matale, and Hambantota districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala, and Batticaloa districts after 2:00 pm.

Mainly dry weather prevails in the remaining areas of the island.

Fairly strong winds of about 40-50 km/h can blow from time to time on the western slopes of the central hills, in the Northern, North Central, and North Western provinces, and in the Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota, and Matale districts.

The department requests the public to take necessary measures to minimise dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
