29 Trincomalee oil tanks to be leased to investors

A decision has been made to invite proposals from investors to lease 29 currently unused oil tanks in Trincomalee on a long-term basis.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Managing Director Mayura Neththikumarrage said that 29 of the 61 oil tanks owned by Trincomalee Petroleum Terminal Limited will be leased under the initiative.

According to him, the move aims to establish a fuel re-export hub in Trincomalee.

He also revealed that reconstruction work has already begun on two additional oil tanks owned by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation in the area.
