A person died last night (30) after being caught in a fire that broke out in a chena field in the Buluwa Matihakka area of the Kandaketiya police division, Kandaketiya Police said.
The deceased in this incident is a 73-year-old resident of the Kandaketiya area.
Police also said that an investigation into the incident has been commenced based on information received.
