Namal criticises government over youth issues

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has launched a scathing attack on the administration, accusing authorities of systematically dismantling the aspirations of the country's youth. Speaking at a divisional meeting in Jandure, Angunakolapelessa, Rajapaksa claimed that the current leadership secured support by making hollow promises regarding employment and vehicle imports, only to deliver widespread disillusionment.

According to the opposition politician, young citizens who anticipated new jobs and affordable transport have instead encountered severe economic roadblocks and hostility. He alleged that graduates seeking employment have been met with state hostility rather than career opportunities, facing physical confrontation and reprimands when approaching authorities for help.

Rajapaksa also drew attention to unfulfilled expectations surrounding vehicle imports, highlighting that young people had anticipated buying cars like the Honda Fit for around Rs. 1.2 million. He remarked that these expectations ultimately vanished into thin air, leaving prospective buyers empty-handed as officials walked back on feasibility.

Insisting that the administration must answer for the mounting economic pressures placed on the younger demographic, Rajapaksa called on the government to account for its unfulfilled pledges and address the daily struggles facing the nation's youth.
