Veteran singer Priyankara Perera’s final rites to be held tomorrow

The final rites of late veteran singer and actor Priyankara Perera will take place tomorrow (02) at the Borella General Cemetery, according to reports.

His remains will be placed at a private funeral parlour in Colombo starting from this afternoon.

After suffering from an illness for some time, he passed away last night (01) following admission to the Colombo National Hospital at the age of 64.

He was the eldest son of late veteran singer Milton Perera and the brother of singer Chalaka Chamupathi.

He gained immense popularity in the local music scene, particularly during the cassette era and the 1980s and 1990s.

Gifted with songs inherited from his father, he blessed music lovers with his melodious voice and won the hearts of listeners through numerous other tracks.

His notable songs include "Ran Pokunen Diya Nagena Enne", "Sihina Devduwe", "Pissu Vikare", "Agadha Sagaraye", "Samana Ve Epadi Divi Thalave", and "Pera Athmayaka Eka Rathriyaka".
