Lee Cronin’s The Mummy set for HBO Max streaming

Good news for horror fans: “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” will be available to stream on HBO Max on July 3.

The supernatural horror was released on April 17 by New Line Cinema. Lee Cronin directed and wrote the project, which stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace and Verónica Falcón.

“Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” follows what happens after the daughter of a journalist “disappears into the desert without a trace,” per the film’s official logline. “Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.”

“Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” grossed just over $90 million worldwide on a budget in the mid-$20 million range, per a previous Variety interview with Cronin.

Before taking on the reins of “The Mummy,” Cronin directed the 2023 horror “Evil Dead Rise,” 2019’s “The Hole in the Ground” and two episodes of the TV series “50 States of Fright.” “Evil Dead Burn,” the sixth installment in the “Evil Dead” franchise, is slated to hit theaters on July 10. Cronin is an executive producer on the film. “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” is not to be confused with the 1990s adventure franchise “The Mummy,” starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

Producers of “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” included James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster co-financed the film. Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Macdara Kelleher were executive producers. Alayna Glasthal was the executive overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.
