The 49th National Sports Festival officially began yesterday (22), and will run until August 20 .
The event is being held across six venues in the cities of Galle, Matara, and Colombo.
Competitors from all nine provinces are set to participate in 33 different sporting events.
Several sports, including wrestling, taekwondo, wushu, and weightlifting, will be held in Colombo from July 24 to 27.
Other events such as swimming, judo, rugby sevens, gymnastics, cricket, hockey, and badminton are scheduled to take place in Colombo from August 1 to 3.
Later in the festival, events including chess, handball, elle, carrom, karate, and beach kabaddi will be contested from August 13 to 17.
Meanwhile, basketball, boxing, football, beach volleyball, and kabaddi are slated to take place in Galle from of August 15 to 31.
