Royal College Colombo won the toss and elected to field first in the 147th edition of the prestigious Battle of the Blues today.
The historic encounter between Royal College and S. Thomas' College, recognised as the world's second-oldest uninterrupted cricket series, commenced this morning at the SSC Grounds in Colombo.
The match will span three days of competition, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1879.
Both institutions enter this year's contest on equal footing, with each side holding 36 victories in the long-standing series.
While S. Thomas' College secured a win in the previous year's match, Royal College claimed the title in 2023.
This year's installment carries significant weight as both teams vie to break the tie and take the lead in overall wins.
