The Rajarata University Academics' Association (RUAA) has intensified the symbolic strike that began on October 30 into a continuous strike.
This escalation is due to problematic issues that have arisen within the process of appointing a new Vice-Chancellor for the university.
Addressing a press conference in Anuradhapura yesterday, Professor Nalaka Geeganage, President of the RUAA, stated that the current Acting Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar have arbitrarily published a newspaper advertisement calling for applications for the Vice-Chancellor position.
Professor Geeganage further asserted that the President must intervene to resolve this pressing issue.
