A police officer attached to the Ambalangoda Police Station sustained injuries after his service firearm discharged today (24).
The incident occurred while the officer was inspecting his weapon shortly after reporting for duty.
A shot was fired unexpectedly, striking the officer in the leg.
He was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Current reports indicate that his condition is not critical.
