The United National Party (UNP) announced a major digital launch scheduled for February 4, 2026, at the party headquarters, Sirikotha, aimed at integrating technology into its organisational structure.
Former President and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will preside over the event. A key highlight of the launch is the official appointment of 1,000 Digital Ward Coordinators, a move intended to cover all electoral constituencies across Sri Lanka.
The party expects these appointments to make its organisational processes more efficient, rapid, and accessible to the public.
Additionally, the party plans to officially introduce the new "UNP App."
This mobile application is designed to serve as a digital platform for party members, organizers, and the general public to exchange information and strengthen communication.
As a significant part of this digital push, the UNP will also officially activate Starlink high-speed internet facilities at the Sirikotha headquarters.
This upgrade is expected to bolster the party's digital communication capabilities.
The UNP stated that these initiatives represent a vital step toward establishing a modern political culture that utilizes innovation and technology to stay connected with the people.
