Opposition leader criticizes government's appeal for cooperation

Speaking in Galle today during a petition drive for former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay, Bandara questioned how the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) could ask for responsibility now after their actions during the global pandemic.

Bandara alleged that the "Malimawa" government gained power through deception and continues to mislead the public regarding the severity of the energy situation.

He claimed that when the JVP was in the opposition during the COVID-19 crisis, they actively disrupted the economy by organising strikes and discouraging overseas Sri Lankans from sending remittances.

Unlike the current ruling party's past conduct, Bandara stated that the present opposition acts with accountability and does not seek to sabotage the nation for political gain.

He argued that the government previously ignored global practicalities to incite unrest but is now using those same global factors as excuses for current hardships.
