Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, in connection with a theft at the Bhoga Thalaichi Amman Temple in Maduvil, Chavakachcheri.
Chavakachcheri Police received a complaint on the 30th regarding the cutting and theft of a woman's gold 'Thali' necklace during the Panguni Tingal worship. Under the guidance of the Chavakachcheri Police Station OIC, a team led by Crime Branch officer Jayaroopan conducted the investigation.
Based on CCTV footage from the location, officers identified and arrested the suspect yesterday during the fourth Panguni Tingal festival held at the same temple. Following the interrogation of the suspect, police recovered a gold necklace hidden behind a Pillaiyar statue at a temple in the Kilinochchi area and seized the vehicle used in the crime.
The arrested group includes a 58-year-old woman identified as the main suspect. The suspects are scheduled for production before the Chavakachcheri Court today.
