Motorcyclist and homeowner arrested for evading police

A motorcyclist who rode without a helmet, ignored police signals, and hid inside a house was arrested along with the homeowner early this morning. Moratumulla Police reported that the suspects used criminal force and obstructed the duties of police officers.

Two officers from the Moratumulla Police, while on night mobile patrol, signalled a motorcycle being ridden without a helmet to stop. The rider failed to stop, prompting the officers to chase the vehicle and issue several warnings to pull over.

The motorcyclist reportedly ignored these commands, insulted the officers, and entered a house in the Villorawatta area of Moratua to hide. Police subsequently attempted to remove the suspect from the premises with the assistance of additional officers on night patrol.

During this attempt, the rider and the homeowner together obstructed the officers and exerted criminal force. Police stated that they used minimum force to control the situation and take both individuals into custody.

The arrested motorcyclist is a 46-year-old resident of Villorawatta, Moratuwa, while the homeowner is a 61-year-old man. Both suspects face production before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court.

Further investigations proceed under the direction of Chief Inspector Dinesh Hettiarachchi, Officer-in-Charge of the Moratumulla Police.
