A fatal incident involving a gas-carrying lorry and a motorcycle has been reported from Raja Veediya in Matale, resulting in the death of a 74-year-old man.
Police said a 12-year-old child who was also travelling on the motorcycle sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
The accident occurred while the victims were travelling from Ukuwela to Matale town for the child to attend a tuition class.
Reports indicate that the gas lorry, which was travelling behind the motorcycle, collided with it.
Matale Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
