Former Director of the State Intelligence Service, Major General (Retd) Suresh Sallay, who is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo, is reported to be continuing his hunger strike for the sixth consecutive day.
His wife also visited him at the hospital today.
General Suresh Sallay, who is in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terror attacks, has been receiving treatment at the National Hospital under tight security for the past six days.
Meanwhile, his wife, Manori Sallay, has written several letters to CID Director Shani Abeysekera, requesting that lawyers be granted access to meet her husband, who is currently held in remand custody.
