Duminda Dissanayake to face indictment over T-56 Firearm Case

Former minister Duminda Dissanayake has been named a suspect again in the case involving a T-56 firearm recovered in Wellawatte, with the Attorney General’s Department informing court that indictments will be filed in the High Court.

The Counter Terrorism and Investigation Division told the Mount Lavinia Acting Magistrate’s Court that investigations had been concluded and files were forwarded to the Attorney General following further statements and evidence reviews.

Dissanayake was previously released after court found insufficient evidence against him.

However, based on new findings, the Attorney General instructed that he be re-included as a suspect.

Acting Magistrate Ravi Mathugama released Dissanayake on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000 each.

The case will be taken up again on December 11 for further instructions.
