Charith Abeysinghe released on bail after depositing surety

Samagi Jana Balawegaya former Horana electorate organiser Charith Abeysinghe left court premises today (30) following the deposit of bail.

He was granted bail on July 28 and returned to prison custody being unable to fulfil bail conditions on that date. Colombo Magistrate Court granted bail on the morning of July 28 to three suspects, including lawyer Rakhitha Rajapaksa and Charith Abesinghe, who faced remand over an alleged 120 million rupee bribe accepted from the wife of alleged drug trafficker 'Harak Kata'.

Authorities released suspects Rakhitha Rajapaksa and Aruna Sri Chathuranga from prison custody after fulfiling bail terms, whereas suspect Charith Abesinghe initially returned to prison custody due to unmet conditions.

The Magistrate ordered release upon two personal sureties of 5,000,000 rupees per suspect alongside travel bans, coupled with a cash bail of one lakh per individual.
