HelaGo crosses 1 mn KM in just 5 months, marking major milestone

HelaGo, Sri Lanka’s fastest growing ride hailing platform jointly launched by Helakuru and the David Pieris Group, has surpassed 1 million kilometers of passenger travel within just five months of commencing operations, marking a significant milestone in its journey to transform the country’s mobility sector.

Launched on 6 January 2026, HelaGo entered the market with a vision of bringing greater fairness, transparency, and choice to Sri Lanka’s ride hailing industry. Since then, the platform has rapidly gained the trust of both passengers and drivers, enabling it to achieve this milestone in a remarkably short period.

Initially launched across the Western Province, HelaGo has grown into a network of more than 80,000 verified driver partners, supported by a rapidly expanding passenger base. The company attributes this strong growth to its unique approach to ride hailing and its commitment to addressing long standing challenges faced by both drivers and passengers.

One of HelaGo’s key innovations is its hybrid ride booking model. In addition to conventional instant booking, the platform allows nearby drivers to submit fare offers for a ride request, enabling passengers to compare prices, driver ratings, and vehicle types before selecting the option that best suits their needs. This approach promotes greater transparency while giving both drivers and passengers greater control over the ride experience.

The platform also offers an advanced Auto Booking feature for passengers seeking immediate ride confirmations, along with a range of technology driven safety and security features designed to protect both passengers and drivers.

Dhanika Perera, Founder and Chairman of HelaGo, said, “Crossing one million kilometers is more than a numerical milestone for us. It represents the trust that thousands of Sri Lankan passengers and drivers have placed in HelaGo during our first few months of operation.”

“Like any new platform, we faced challenges, learned from real world usage, and continuously improved the experience. This milestone validates our belief that Sri Lanka is ready for a more transparent and fair mobility ecosystem.”

“This milestone belongs to every passenger who trusted us, every driver who showed up, and every partner who believed in the vision from day one. While we are proud of what we have achieved in five months, we are only getting started.”

“Our next focus is expanding HelaGo beyond the Western Province and bringing our services to more communities across Sri Lanka.”

Having successfully crossed its first million kilometers, HelaGo now looks ahead to its next phase of growth, with plans to expand its geographic footprint while continuing to enhance the mobility experience for both passengers and drivers.
