Shyamali Wickramasinghe is appointed as the CBL Group Chairperson, with effect from July 6, filling the vacancy left by the late Ramya Sanath Ameraweera Wickramasinghe, who held the position of group chairperson since 2015.
Shyamali Wickramasinnghe was the Group Managing Director of CBL Investments Limited and its group of companies.
This transition continues the leadership legacy established by the late Mineka Wickramasinghe, the founder and chairman who started the business in 1968.
Shyamali Wickramasinghe, the eldest daughter of the founder, joined Ceylon Biscuits Limited in 1991 and occupied several senior leadership roles over the past three decades.
She joined the company's board of directors in 1996 and served as group managing director for over a decade, leading long-term group strategies, international expansion, product innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
A food technologist by profession, she holds an MSc in Food Chemistry from Purdue University in the United States and a BSc in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University.
The group exports products to over 70 countries and operates manufacturing plants in Sri Lanka, Ghana, and Indonesia.
Shyamali Wickramasinghe serves as the chairperson of the Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council.
She also acts as a committee member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Advisory Committee on Processed Foods and Beverages of the Export Development Board, and a member of the UNICEF Business Council of Sri Lanka.
Additionally, she holds the chairmanship of Modern Pack Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and serves on the boards of several other companies.
