Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) has successfully implemented a new Air Situation Display System at the Jaffna International Airport Control Tower, enhancing air traffic monitoring and operational safety.
The Electronics & Air Navigation Engineering (E&ANE) Division of AASL carried out the upgrade to address a long-standing operational requirement by improving air traffic services, particularly in identifying outbound aircraft from the nearest Indian Flight Information Region, while enhancing overall air situation awareness, especially during adverse weather conditions.
The new system also overcomes the challenge of visually locating aircraft caused by the limited height of the Jaffna Airport Control Tower, enabling Air Traffic Controllers to make safer and more informed operational decisions.
