Vietjet launches 3 weekly flights connecting Vietnam and Sri Lanka

Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has welcomed Vietjet’s inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, marking the launch of three weekly flights connecting Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

The inaugural flight was warmly welcomed with a ceremonial water cannon salute organised by Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka, followed by a vibrant traditional Kandyan dance performance organised by Tourism Sri Lanka, showcasing Sri Lanka’s warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage. The GSA for the airline is Andrew The Travel Company.

The inaugural event also featured a special cake-cutting ceremony to mark the launch of the new air route connecting Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

Passengers arriving on the inaugural flight were greeted with Sri Lankan hospitality and presented with Ceylon Tea packs sponsored by the Sri Lanka Tea Board, offering them a taste of the island’s renowned tea as they began their Sri Lankan journey.

The arrival of Vietjet is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Sri Lanka and Vietnam while supporting tourism and facilitating greater travel between the two countries.
