A state ceremony to hand over the credentials to newly appointed Asgiri Chief Prelate Most Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera was held at the premises of the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy today.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, credentials were also handed over to newly appointed two Anunayake Theras, the incumbent of Badulu Muthiyangana Ancient Temple වරකාගොඩ ශ්රී ඥානරතන and Polonnaruwa සොලොස්මස්ථානාධිපති වෙන්දාරුවේ Upali Thera.
Addressing the gathering, the president said that the maha Sangha has taken the lead towards building a good civilization.
Several MPs, ministers including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and diplomats participated.
