The daughter of the Senior Superintendent of Police who was produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court today (18) for causing considerable damage to a private car showroom in the Cinnamon Gardens area and high speed reckless driving, was released on a surety bail of Rs. 200,000.
The investigations have revealed that the suspect does not possess a valid driver's licence.
The Police informed the Court that legal action will be taken against Mohammad Samras Ahmed who provided the vehicle to the suspect.
The Attorney appearing on behalf of the vehicle showroom informed the court that their compnay has incurred a loss of Rs. 20 million due to the accident caused by the suspect.
Considering the information presented, the Colombo Additional Magistrate Hiroshi Kahingala ordered the suspect to be released on bail.
The case is due to be taken up again on 02 March and the Magistrate has ordered the Cinnamon Gardens Police to submit a progress report on that day.
