Jayalal Rohana: Veteran actor's remains to be brought to his residence

The body of the late veteran actor Jayalal Rohana will be brought to his residence in Ganemulla this afternoon.

Jayalal Rohana was 56 years old at the time of his death due to a heart attack.

Born on November 1, 1964, Jayalal Rohana entered the field of art in 1976. He excelled as an actor, drama director, radio scriptwriter, teacher and makeup artist.

Jayalal Rohana, who created the comedy on stage, contributed to many stage dramas such as Subha & Yasa, Varna, Senehabara Dolly, Socrates, Kelani Palama, Hankithi 13, Garu Kathanayake.

His role as Muthumina in the teledrama Isuru Yoga, which became very popular among Sri Lankan audiences, has left many unforgettable memories even today.

'Sabe Viduli Villakkuwa', 'Sebe Mune Wes Muna', 'Handa Viduma', 'Ves Muhunada Sebe Muhunada' are some of the books he has written.

Jayalal Rohana is considered to be the first to write a formal work on theatrical and feature writing of stage plays.

He also served as a University External Lecturer in Drama and Performing Arts and made a significant contribution to the development of the Sri Lankan field of performing arts. Jayalal Rohana is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya, an alumnus of the Ananda College, Kette.

The remains of Jayalal Rohana, who passed away yesterday afternoon, will be laid to rest at his residence at 50/3, Sri Seelananda Mawatha, Kossinna, Ganemulla from this afternoon.
