The trade association of Kotagala, Hatton has decided to close the town from 19 August until 26 August, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The President of the Trade Union stated that a large number of people have been infected with COVID-19 virus in the Kotagala Medical Officer of Health area and several of them have died.
The members of the trade union who met in the Kotagala area yesterday afternoon unanimously decided to close Kotagala town for a week.
The President of the Kotagala Traders' Association stated that plans have been made to completely disinfect the town with the assistance of the health officials of the Kotagala Pradeshiya Sabha during the period of closure.
