Iconic 130-year-old Nuwara Eliya Post Office to remain

Minister Vijitha Herath has announced that the iconic 130-year-old Nuwara Eliya Post Office and its premises will remain exclusively for postal department operations.

All previous decisions concerning the property, including a proposal by the former government to hand over the colonial-era building for a hotel project, have been suspended. This proposal had faced significant opposition from the public, trade unions, and various organizations.

The Nuwara Eliya Post Office, known for its Tudor Revival architecture, is a well-known landmark and popular tourist attraction in the country.
