Torrential rains in the Jaffna district today have caused severe flooding at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, with several residential wards submerged. Both staff and patients have been significantly impacted as water entered the wards, disrupting operations and treatment activities, including surgeries.
Hospital staff hostels were also flooded, further hampering their ability to perform duties.
The Director of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital reported that the situation has severely affected the hospital's functioning.
Additionally, the Nallur Kovil grounds and surrounding areas in Jaffna have been completely submerged, highlighting the extent of the district's flooding crisis.
