The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recovered a Micro-type firearm and a magazine based on information received during the interrogation of Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, alias 'Kehel Baddara Padme', an organised crime leader and drug trafficker currently being detained by the CID.
'Kehel Baddara Padme' was recently arrested along with four others in Jakarta, Indonesia, during a joint operation by the Peliyagoda North Criminal Division and the police.
Police stated that during questioning by the CID's Commercial Crime Investigation Unit 3, 'Kehel Baddara Padme' revealed that a firearm used in various crimes had been hidden under a culvert on an access road on the Kosgoda Road, Urugasman Junction.
The CID subsequently recovered the weapon based on this information.
