Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that the greatest happiness a people's leader can achieve is the time spent with the public.
He added that this is not just a political relationship but a heartfelt bond that is difficult to break.
The former President made these remarks in a post on his official Facebook page. The full statement reads:
“The love of the people is familiar to me, having spent much of my life among them. The love of the people, based on trust and mutual respect, is free from motives. Therefore, its value is greater than anything else. It must be said that this is not just a political relationship, but a heartfelt bond that is difficult to break. Attempts to break this bond may only strengthen our ties further. I experience the greatest happiness a people's leader can achieve throughout this time spent with the public. I offer my respectful thanks to all.”
