A tragic incident has been reported from the Wellampitiya area, where a 29-year-old mother of one was allegedly burned to death by her intoxicated husband.
The suspect reportedly entered the house via the roof, brought a bottle of petrol, and poured it over the victim’s head before setting her on fire.
Following the attack, the suspect allegedly took the couple's child and fled, jumping from roof to roof before leaving the child on the roof of a house and escaping.
The incident is believed to be the culmination of a history of domestic issues.
The victim had filed multiple complaints against the suspect, who had frequently threatened her life.
The couple was also facing a divorce case.
The suspect is reported to be heavily addicted to drugs and frequently demanded money from the victim to purchase alcohol.
The Wellampitiya Police are conducting further investigations into the murder.
