The Grandpass Police reported the discovery of a locally-manufactured revolver-type firearm at the Madampitiya garbage dump.
Police stated that the firearm was rust-coloured.
The weapon was recovered based on information provided to officers of the Kelaniya Police Special Task Force (STF) Camp by a person passing by the area.
Police suspect that the firearm was brought and dumped at the location by an individual.
Investigations are being conducted under the direction of Grandpass Police OIC, Chief Police Inspector Kithsiri Kumara.
