An elderly man who was walking to a temple in the Uduwara area to observe sil on Poya day was found mysteriously dead on the Napier Road in Uduwara yesterday (6), police reported.
The deceased has been identified as S.M. Gunathilaka (70), a resident of Palawelgollagama, Uduwara, Hali-Ela.
Police stated that he was living alone in Uduwara, while his wife and children reside in the Horana area.
The man was walking to a local temple in Uduwara the morning to observe sil when his body was discovered mysteriously dead near the road in the Kendagollapathana area on Uduwara Napier Road, according to Hali-Ela Police.
Badulla Acting Magistrate Ramesh Kumara visited the scene today (6) to conduct an on-site inspection, make observations, and carry out the magisterial inquiry.
