Archchuna complains over Parliament food

Jaffna District Independent Member of Parliament, Dr. Ramanathan Archuna, raised a point of order in Parliament today (19), expressing his strong dissatisfaction with the quality and variety of food served at the Parliamentary dining hall.

Citing a specific section from the Standing Orders of Parliament to justify his formal grievance, MP Archuna delivered a heated speech regarding his experience during the lunch hour.

The MP claimed that the catering services currently provided to the people's representatives were woefully inadequate.

He said "I went to the Parliamentary dining hall, and there was nothing to eat. There was only red rice and gravy,"

The Deputy Chairperson of Committees, who was presiding over the session at the time, acknowledged the MP's concerns.

He informed the House that the matter would be formally brought to the attention of the Speaker for further investigation.
