The Bentara-Elpitiya constituency is an ideal fit due to ancestral ties from both parents, former Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana stated while officially rejoining the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). He accepted the post of seat organiser from SLPP National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, moving from his previous assignment in the Akmeemana constituency.
The return of those who distanced themselves in the past remains a welcome development, Namal Rajapaksa remarked during the event. He noted the historical political connection between the late Richard Pathirana and the Rajapaksa family, describing the former minister as a professional and dignified political leader.
Leadership during recent challenging times in the Galle District came from Mohan de Silva, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana told the gathering. He urged supporters to work under that continued leadership to ensure a future presidency for Namal Rajapaksa, expressing gratitude to all members present.
