A special traffic plan has been implemented around Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha (Green Path) in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo 07, in view of the 33rd edition of the "Kala Pola" open-air art fair.
The Police Media Division confirmed that the restrictions, which began earlier today (7), will remain in effect until 4:00 AM on Monday, 09 February.
Under this plan, traffic on Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha between the Public Library Roundabout and the Horton Roundabout (Nelum Pokuna) has been restricted to a single lane for both vehicles entering and leaving the city.
These measures have been taken to accommodate the large crowds and various cultural stalls set up along the Green Path sidewalks for the annual event, which is expected to draw thousands of art enthusiasts, tourists, and collectors.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Marcus Fernando Mawatha or F.R. Senanayake Mawatha to avoid potential congestion in the area. Police officers have been deployed at key junctions to guide drivers and ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout the weekend's festivities.
