Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), met with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and several other ministers in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, February 11. The meeting took place during an official visit to India following an invitation from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The delegation also held discussions with M.A. Baby, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and several members of its Central Committee.
The talks focused on Kerala’s successful social welfare programs, including initiatives that achieved 100% literacy and strategies used to eliminate extreme poverty. Both parties explored opportunities to enhance future cooperation between Sri Lanka and India across various sectors and discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between the two political organisations.

Kitnan Selvaraj and Karunathilan Ilankumaran (Members of Parliament)
Janaka Adhikari (Attorney-at-Law and General Secretary of the Inter-Company Employees’ Union)
Kalpana Madhubhashini (Attorney-at-Law and JVP International Committee member)
Hemathilaka Gamage (JVP Media Unit member)
This visit to Kerala follows earlier engagements in New Delhi and Gujarat, where the delegation observed India's industrial and technological advancements, including visits to ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and the Vizhinjam Port.
