Traffic restrictions on southern expressway

Traffic flow is restricted today (1) on the section of the Southern Expressway between Galanigama and Dodangoda due to urgent maintenance work.

Repairs are underway on two specific stretches of the Matara-bound lane, specifically between the 17 - 19 and 28 - 30 kilometre marks.

The lane heading towards Matara is closed because of these repairs, with the two Colombo-bound lanes divided to allow traffic to travel in both directions instead, according to the police.

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution when passing through these areas to prevent any mishaps, as heavy traffic congestion is expected near the maintenance sites.
