The final rites of the late Ministry of Finance Assistant Director, Ranga Nishantha, take place this afternoon at the Pahala Weerambuwa public cemetery in Kuliyapitiya.
His remains arrived at his residence this morning following the completion of the post-mortem examination.
A specialist medical board concluded yesterday that the death resulted from excessive bleeding caused by multiple lacerations.
The report issued by the forensic board further noted that the injuries appeared self-inflicted using a sharp weapon.
The official faced suspension at the time of his death in connection with an incident where hackers allegedly accessed 2.5 million US dollars from the Treasury.
A panel of four specialist forensic doctors conducted the autopsy at the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital, revealing three deep cuts on the deceased’s legs and arm.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Shiral Lakthilaka of the Dinana Dakuna Collective addressed a press conference in Colombo today, urging the Minister of Health to initiate a psychological autopsy regarding the death.
