Dengue could spread further because of the ongoing rainy conditions.
The National Dengue Control Unit reported that 27,754 cases were identified across various regions of the island so far this year.
This total includes 14 fatalities, two of whom were young children.
Community Physician Specialist Prashila Samaraweera stated during a press conference in Colombo this morning that over 50% of these cases originate from the Western Province.
