90-day detention for “Gampaha Osman”

The weapon intended for the plot against Ganemulla Sanjeeva originated from an individual known as Gampaha Osman.

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) presented this information to Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (15) during proceedings at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Gampaha Osman faces classification as the 44th suspect in the conspiracy case, according to subsequent details submitted to the court by the CCD.

The suspect remained in custody under an initial 72-hour detention order.

Following the expiration of this period, investigators obtained legal permission to extend the detention for an additional 90 days to proceed with inquiries.

Official investigations revealed that Gampaha Osman traveled to a separate location to retrieve the firearm before transferring it to the primary suspect, who acted as the designated shooter in the plot.
