Price of a kilogram of Nadu rice in the market dropped to 100 rupees, the United Rice Producers' Association informs.
The president of the association, Mudith Perera, said that this situation arose because the Government imported a Keeri rice as a substitute for local Keeri Samba rice.
The Government took steps to import rice last month, claiming that a rice shortage could occur in the country.
Farmers allege that they are unable to sell their Maha season harvest because of this.
