The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) says total tax revenue collected by May 18, has exceeded Rs. 1 trillion.
The department attributed the record revenue mainly to systematic tax administration measures and recent tax reforms introduced to meet state revenue targets.
Financial experts say reaching such a high tax revenue level within the first five months of the year marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s public finance history.
