President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued an Extraordinary Gazette notification further extending the State of Public Emergency currently imposed throughout the country.
This extension has been implemented through Gazette Notification No. 2490/06, issued on May 28, 2026, under the signature of the Secretary to the President, Dr. N. S. Kumanayake.
Accordingly, the President points out in the gazette notification that this measure was taken to ensure public security and the maintenance of public order, as well as to maintain the uninterrupted provision of supplies and services essential to the life of the community.
